Sophie is an abstract artist based in Noosa, Queensland
Her practice is founded in a love of colour. She layers the canvas with distinctive, loose markings, allowing forms to drift into one another, until the right harmony is achieved.
Sophie’s abstract paintings are influenced by the natural beauty of her bushland, seaside location. They explore concepts around the precious nature of time, domestic life and the quest to live well. Each painting conveys a feeling rather than depicting a picture. You are invited find your own meaning in the artwork and uncover new perspectives over time.

A creative career
Sophie has always enjoyed creative drawing, and after turning 40 in 2022 she accelerated her painting practice. She attempts to paint daily, whether it’s a little or a lot. Over the years Sophie has studied with various teachers, including Abstract Painting at the Byron School of Art with Michael Cuasck (2017), Fine Art at Verrocchio Art Centre in Italy (2010) and private painting lessons with abstract artist Amy Clarke in Eumundi (2023).
Parallel to this Sophie’s been a Copywriter for the past 20 years. Her career highlights include writing global TV ads for Guinness in Dublin and recording with Geoffrey Rush for Unicef.
Sophie also studied textile design and created “Bed Toppings” - sheets that turn beds into giant objects. Her hand illustrated collection were stocked in Top 3 By Design and Third Drawer Down. They featured a giant chocolate bar, sardine tin, flower bed or pencil case.
Sophie is thrilled to now be painting and hopes to paint and surf her way into old age.
